Skittles

These rainbow-colored, bite size chewy candies were actually first created by a British company and didn't go on sale in the States until 1979 as an imported treat. Three years later, production of Skittles began on US soil, and the famous "Taste the rainbow" slogan was coined in 1994. Today, the popular hard-shell candy with a chewy center comes in original, tropical and wild flavors, as well as "sour," which have a sour ingredient on the outer layer.
