What exactly is a smoothie?

Smoothies were created in California in the 1970's. They're a great way to increase your fruit and vegetable intake and are a perfect on-the-go snack.  You can also add protein, fiber and grains to bulk them up, or experiment with different types of dairy products and substitutes like soy, almond or rice milk. Mix it all in a blender and you're set!
