How To Sanitize Your Cutting Board Without Chemicals
Gourmandize Staff,
Butchers and chefs use this method...
It's a good idea to clean your cutting board once a month, to eliminate the tiny bits of food and bacteria that inevitably accumulate in the crevices.
But is there a way to do this without using industrial chemicals? Yes!
In fact, this is the preferred method of chefs and butchers, who need to sanitize their work surface often, without wasting too much time.
Here's what you'll need:
- 1/2 a lemon
- Coarse salt
- Spatula
- Hot water
- Sponge
How To Do It
- Spread the salt: smear a good amount of salt on the cutting board.
- Clean the surface: use half a lemon to scrub the whole chopping area. Squeeze the lemon lightly so that the juice binds with the grains of salt.
- Wait: leave the chopping board for 5 minutes so that the mixture can work, then scrape off the remains with a spatula.
- Rinse: run it under water and dry with a cloth.
