Power Out? Here Are 6 Ways To Cook Without Electricity
We don't fully realize our dependance on electricity until the power goes out. Without electricity, we lose access to the Internet, television, and most of our appliances. When it comes to preparing dinner during a blackout, however, you don't have to feel helpless.
Before you panic, read these tips:
Cold Cuts
The first option is to make meals that don't require any cooking. Using ingredients you already have in your kitchen, you can make no-cook meals such as sandwiches, salads, etc.

Homemade Dip
If you keep a mortar and pestle in your kitchen, this is their time to shine. Use them to make homemade sauces. Cut up some vegetetables for dipping (carrots, cucumbers, peppers) and have an easy, nutritious dish.

Can it
You should always have some canned, non-perishable goods stocked up in your kitchen. Not only do they cut prep time in half, but they can be necessary in times of emergency. If you have some canned vegetables, beans, and meat at your disposal, you can put together a tasty and balanced meal without using any electricity.

Get Grilling
If you have a grill in your backyard (and if it's safe to do so), a power outage is the perfect time to throw an impromptu barbecue. This way, you can still cook a hot meal without using any electricity. This is also a good option if you have plenty of meat and other items that will go bad in your fridge during a power outage.
