Start your meals with soup

It might sound counterintuitive to add an extra course to your meals, but it can actually reduce your overall calorie intake by filling you up with something healthy before the main dish. Vegetable soups are a great option, as they're satisfying and low in calories (just don't pick the ones with lots of added cream). Even better, hot soups will slow down your eating pace, which gives your body the time it needs to start feeling full. By the time you get to the main dish, you will be much less likely to overdo it in terms of portion size.
