BBQ Sauce - USA

Barbecue sauce is a beloved creation in the US, revered for its use as a marinade, basting sauce, condiment or topping for BBQ meats (pork, beef and chicken), sandwiches, and more. If you didn't already know, it's usually made with a ketchup or tomato paste base, plus vinegar, liquid smoke, onion powder, spices and sweeteners. Classic BBQ sauce has a sweet and savory flavor complex, but you can find dozens of regional variations around the country that vary widely in composition and taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cups (255g) brown sugar,
  • 1 1/2 cups (350g) ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2.5 tbsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 dashes Tabasco sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, add all of the ingredients. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Serve at room temperature (or use as marinade/baste, etc.).
