Feuerzangenbowle - Germany

Try to pronounce this one out loud. The photo doesn't really do justice to this festive German holiday drink. It's their version of mulled wine with a twist. Feuerzangenbowle is typically prepared in a bowl over a small burner (slightly resembling a fondue set-up), with warmed dry red wine, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves and orange peel. Before serving, a rum-soaked sugarloaf is lit on fire and suspended over the bowl to caramelize and melt into the drink. It's a popular Christmas and New Year's Eve tradition that sounds like something we'd love.
