Jerk Chicken - Jamaica

When in Jamaica, you must try Jerk chicken. The term "jerk" actually refers to a Jamaican style of cooking, which includes using dry rubs or marinades mixed with a special hot spice mixture known as Jamaican jerk. The two main components of jerk sauce are allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers, which gives it its signature heat. The chicken is then grilled over pimento wood, which adds a smoky flavor to the dish. Usually served with rice and peas, coleslaw, or fried plantains, it's a popular street food in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries. If you like your chicken with an extra kick, pick some up at a street-side jerk stand, and dig in!

Where to eat: At Murphy's West End restaurant, you can enjoy mouthwatering plates of spicy jerk chicken, in addition to seafood specialties like jerk lobster and shrimp curries.
