Laksa - Southeast Asia

If you love Vietnamese pho, Japanese ramen and other Asian noodle dishes, you must try Southeast Asian laksa, a spicy, aromatic soup made with thick rice noodles, coconut milk, shrimp paste, lemongrass, galangal, chilies, and various herbs and seasonings. It comes in multiple variations, each with its own unique taste and texture, but all share a common foundation of a rich and creamy, sweet and savory broth. Common toppings include chicken, prawn or fish with fresh herbs. With its bold and complex flavors, it'll conquer you in just one slurp.

Where to eat: At Katong Laksa, or "George's", as it's affectionately referred to by the locals, you'll find one of the best bowls of laksa in Singapore. Loved for its thick and chewy vermicelli, rich and complex gravy, and generous toppings, it's so good that people are willing to cross the island in order to satisfy their cravings.
