Hummus
Hummus is a traditional Middle Eastern dish that has been consumed for centuries. While it's difficult to determine the exact date of its origin, it's known that hummus consumption dates back to at least the 13th century in Egypt. However, it's likely people were enjoying the tasty dip even before this period!
Hummus has roots in the cuisine of several regional cultures, such as Egyptian, Levantine and Mesopotamian. It is made from basic ingredients such as chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and spices, such as cumin.
Despite having long been an important part of Middle Eastern cuisine culture, hummus has become an iconic dish and has spread around the world due to its delicious taste and nutritional properties. Today, hummus is very popular in various cultures and has become a common element in many international cuisines.
