Being able to customize an order is a right that restaurant patrons are entitled to, but when people take it too far, servers do become frustrated: "If you have food allergies or prefer the sauce on the side or whatever, I totally understand, and I will do my best to accommodate. But sometimes, it’s just ridiculous... " In other words, go to a restaurant you know has dishes you can and will want to order. Check out the menu online beforehand, and don't expect them to make you something that isn't listed at all. Restaurant kitchens are prepped specifically for what's on their menu, and it can really throw off the cooks when a crazy order comes in to interrupt their flow.
