Not acknowledging your server

Forgetting to acknowledge your server or hold a conversation with them seems to be a common behavior, with a number of contributors describing the same problem, where they greet the diners, and the diners respond immediately with a drinks order. "Me: How's it going folks? Them: Iced tea." Also, anytime your waiter or waitress is addressing you, get off your phone/tablets/laptop. It's rude, and the least you could do is acknowledge them when they are just doing their job.
