Homemade Artisan Loaf
Create your own artisan bread with just three basic ingredients: flour, salt, and yeast! This no-knead recipe is perfect for beginners and seasoned bakers alike. With minimal effort and time, you'll create a beautifully crusty loaf with a tender, chewy inside. Let the dough rise overnight, shape it gently, and bake to perfection!
Ingredients (for 1 loaf):
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 ½ cups water
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Mix well until combined.
- Gradually add 1 1/2 cups (360ml) of lukewarm water to the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms. The dough should be sticky and wet.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise at room temperature for 8-24 hours, until the dough has doubled in size and is bubbly on the surface.
- Lightly flour a work surface and turn the dough out onto it. With floured hands, gently shape the dough into a round loaf. Be careful not to deflate it too much.
- Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper and cover it with a towel. Let it rise for about 30 min. while you preheat your oven.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven or heavy oven-safe pot with a lid inside to heat up.
- Carefully remove the preheated pot from the oven. Using the parchment paper, lift the dough and place it into the pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 min.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 min. or until the bread is golden brown and crusty.
- Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy!
No Dutch oven? Add a cake pan with an inch of water to the lower rack of your oven to create steam, and remove it when called to remove the lid from the Dutch oven.
