These easy dinner rolls are a breeze to make, and they are the perfect fluffy, buttery compliment to any meal. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can create delicious rolls to feed a crowd or freeze for later! The dough requires two rises to achieve its soft, airy texture, and a final brush of melted butter after baking adds a golden, tender finish.
Ingredients (for 16 rolls):
1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 min. until frothy.
Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add additional flour, a little at a time, until the dough is manageable.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 min. until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment to knead the dough for about 5 min.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it to coat all sides. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x9-inch casserole dish, spacing them evenly.
Cover the casserole dish with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm place for about 30 min. or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 min. or until golden brown on top.
Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving, and enjoy!
