Brioche Burger Buns

These brioche burger buns are the perfect combination of soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet. With a golden-brown exterior and tender crumb, they are ideal for any gourmet burger. Ingredients (for 8 buns):

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened and cut into pieces
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 min. until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and 3 eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Add the butter, a few pieces at a time, kneading the dough until the butter is fully incorporated. Continue kneading for about 10 min. until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten each ball slightly.
  6. Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 min. or until they have puffed up.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Beat the remaining egg with a tbsp of water to make an egg wash. Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake for 15-20 min. or until golden brown.
  9. Let the buns cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving, and enjoy while fresh!
