Walking Tacos

Walking Tacos are a fun and convenient way to enjoy all the flavors of a classic taco in a portable package. Perfect for picnics, parties, or casual dinners, each foil packet is filled with crunchy corn chips, savory taco meat, and all your favorite toppings. If you attend a sporting event in the Midwest, you’re sure to spot these in the crowd!

Ingredients (for 4 servings):

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 4 single-serving bags of corn chips (such as Fritos or Doritos)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños, guacamole, hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  2. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Add the taco seasoning mix and water to the skillet with the cooked beef. Stir well to combine.
  4. Simmer for about 5 min. or until the sauce thickens.
  5. Carefully open each bag of corn chips, leaving the chips inside. Gently crush the chips a bit to make room for the toppings.
  6. Divide the seasoned ground beef evenly among the four bags of chips.
  7. Top each bag with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, black olives, and any other desired toppings.
  8. Add a dollop of sour cream and a spoonful of salsa to each bag.
  9. Serve the walking tacos in their bags with forks for easy eating. Enjoy!
