This pizza recipe yields a crispy, golden crust with a perfectly chewy center, thanks to the magic of baking in a cast iron pan. Load it up with your favorite toppings and enjoy a delicious homemade pizza with minimal effort!
Ingredients (for 1 pizza, or 6 slices):
1 lb pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings of your choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, etc.)
Fresh basil or oregano (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
Heat a 10-12 inch cast iron skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the olive oil and swirl to coat the bottom and sides of the skillet.
On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a circle, slightly larger than the skillet. Carefully transfer the dough to the hot skillet, pressing it down so that it covers the bottom and comes up slightly along the edges.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top, then add your favorite toppings.
Cook the pizza in the skillet on medium heat for about 3-4 min. until the bottom of the crust starts to crisp up.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 min. or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pizza cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil or oregano if desired, slice, and serve hot.
