Dobos Torte - Hungary

This beautiful and delicious cake was created by Hungarian confectioner Jozsef C. Dobos in the 1800's. The Hungarian emperor and his wife were among the first to taste the dreamy cake in 1885 when it was first presented at the National General Exhibition of Budapest. It's a rich cake with complex flavors: 7 alternating layers of cake and chocolate buttercream, finished with a caramel topping and sliced almonds to cover the sides.
