You're Not Getting Enough Sleep

Sleep gives your body the opportunity to reset, physically and mentally. If you're sleepy and tired, you'll be more inclined to reach for snacks (particularly sugary foods) throughout the day to boost your energy levels. This is especially due to increased levels of ghrelin, the hunger hormone. The less you sleep, the more ghrelin you have in your system, making your body believe it's hungry and simultaneously storing the calories you eat because it thinks you are at a deficit. Getting 7-9 hours of sleep on a regular basis will give you both the mental and physical energy to exercise, eat right, and follow-through with your weight loss plan.
