5. Draining The Eustachian Tubes

This technique is commonly used to relieve congestion in the tube behind your eardrum by draining fluid from your ear. It can help treat tinnitus caused by congestion of the ears, nose, or throat, as the upper respiratory tract is connected to this tube.

To perform this technique, first make sure your hands are clean. Then open your mouth and place your index finger on the back teeth on one side of your jaw. Behind these molars is a curved bone covered in flesh (this is the hinge that allows you to open and close your jaw). Keep going further back until you find a fibrous tendon, and just beyond that tendon, at the root of your tongue, is the Eustachian tube. Tap this tube gently from side to side for 15-20 seconds, then do the same on the other side. Be very careful, as this treatment can be very dangerous if it is not done properly.
