Abalone

This is the world's most expensive shellfish, also known as "sea ear". Its meat is a delicacy enjoyed all around the world but especially in the Asian countries of China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan. Although the price varies according to type and color, expect about one kilo to cost upwards of $60-110 dollars. We can't help thinking how Alien-like they look, but adventurous eaters love its savory, buttery flavor and slightly chewy texture (similar to calamari).
