Modern Knife

The modern dinner knife came about in 1637 when Cardinal Richelieu of France ordered his knife points to be worn down so that guests wouldn't pick their teeth with them. Soon, Louis XIV had made it law in France that all knives must be worn down, both for style and for safety.
