Go Beyond Royal Icing

Don't get us wrong: royal icing is incredible, and it's a great go-to for all kinds of cookies and desserts. However, if you want to take your gingerbread game to the next level, don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to icing and decor. You can mix confectioners' sugar and milk to create a sweet and subtle glaze (optionally enhanced with extracts or citrus flavor), or brush the cookies in egg whites and dip them in cinnamon sugar. The possibilities are endless!
