Mami's origins were first rooted in a love story—a young couple with a passion for food. The girl shared her Japanese origins with the boy in the form of a life-changing okonomiyaki, and the rest is history. In 2015, Austin Miller and Hana Tamaki jumped on the food truck bandwagon, and their locally sourced riff on Japanese street food was more than enough to earn them their own brick-and-mortar. Settled in Portland's bustling Old Port district since 2017, the restaurant operates in counter-service fashion, with your order taken up front and delivered to you later. The okonomiyaki, karaage chicken and kushiyaki are a must!
