Even celebrity chefs love tinned fish

Celebrity Chef José Andrés has touted tinned seafood for years as an excellent food source. During an NPR show last year, he said: “I like food in a can. Let me put it this way. Imagine you're hungry. You have nobody around you. You have a can. You open the can. You are eating. Amazing.” In fact, last year he opened Mercado Little Spain, a huge food hall in Hudson Yards, New York, designed to emulate the experience of visiting a food market in Spain. One of the things he put on offer? Premium canned Spanish seafood.
