Red onions add color and can be used to make flowers

For a purple hue on your focaccia creation, red onions are nifty. They can be sliced thin to make spokes, or kept in their natural layers to serve as flower petals. You can also use round sliced onions at the center of the flowers, and place other ingredients around it. Depending on the shape of your onion, you can use smaller slightly misshapen slices to make butterfly wings, by arranging them side by side.
