Chocolate Caliente - Spain

Spain's version of hot chocolate, chocolate caliente, is a beloved warm winter drink that's often enjoyed with crispy golden churros on the side. This is known as chocolate con churro. While American hot chocolate tends to be more milky and liquidy, the Spanish variation is rich, thick and sauce-like, thanks to the addition of cornstarch. It also isn't made from a powder packet but with actual melted chocolate. Dark chocolate is usually a safe choice for preparing the cozy beverage, as it's less sweet and will provide the perfect dipping partner for sugary churros.
