5. Keep it Small
Try to limit your Christmas dinner gathering to the people who are already living under your roof. Not only is this recommended by health experts to prevent the pandemic from getting worse, but also it will help you cut your food budget significantly. The less mouths you have to feed, the less food you have to buy and prepare. If you're used to cooking in huge quantities for a large group, cut your usual recipes in half. Substitute roast chicken in place of turkey. Choose three favorite side dishes instead of six. All of this will help you save money and potentially reduce food waste if you're not big on leftovers.
Of course, if you live alone and aren't planning to be with family for the holidays, you can try to plan a small gathering with other isolated friends. Just be smart and safe, and stay mindful of social distancing and hygiene practices.
