One cup of zucchini noodles contains about 19 calories versus 220 calories in one cup of cooked spaghetti. Spiralizers, or spiral vegetable slicers, allow you to cut vegetables like zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, beetroot, etc. into noodle-like strands that can be used to replace traditional long pastas like spaghetti and tagliatelle. Spaghetti squash is another great option that doesn't require a spiralizer (simply cook the squash and scrape the flesh into strands). While we don't advocate completely cutting out any one food from your diet, alternating pasta with veggie noodles can be a good way to lower your calorie intake in the long term.
