Sahlab - Middle East

Sahlab, also spelled salep or sahlep, is a cozy Middle Eastern drink made from a type of orchid tuber-based flour that shares its name. Combined with milk, sugar and rose water, the flour adds thickness to the beverage, rendering it nice and creamy. Cinnamon and nuts are also optional garnishes. It's widely appreciated throughout Levantine cuisines as a soothing winter drink but can also be served as a warm pudding.
