Ossobucco - Italy
Ossobucco is a world famous Italian dish, whose name translates to "bone with a hole," in reference to the marrow-filled bone that is the centerpiece of the dish. Made with cross-cut veal shanks braised in a flavorful broth with wine and vegetables, it's seasoned with herbs like fresh thyme and bay leaves and finished with a gremolata made from lemon zest, garlic, and parsley. The result is a rich and tender meat that falls off the bone. Ossobucco is typically served with risotto alla milanese but also goes well with creamy polenta or mashed potatoes.
Where to eat: Enjoy some of the tastiest and most authentic ossobucco and risotto alla milanese in a typical Italian tavern atmosphere at Al Matarel in Milan.
