Muffaletta (USA)

Muffaletta is not only the name of this sandwich but also the round Sicilian bread loaf used to make it. While the bread is of Italian origins, the sandwich is actually said to be created in New Orleans by a Sicilian immigrant named Salvatore Lupo. It's stacked with layers of salami, ham, mortadella, provolone, Swiss cheese, and muffaletta-style olive salad (made with giardinera veggies). The ingredients can easily be changed up, as with this modern recipe.
