Fluffernutter (USA)

Proposed as the official state sandwich of Massachusetts, this gooey delight is made up of peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. It's especially popular in New England, so you may not know it if you didn't grow up there, but the earliest known recipe for the sandwich was published during World War I. If you're allergic to peanuts, you can always sub in a different kind of nut butter, such as almond or even Nutella. This recipe takes it up a notch by grilling it and adding sliced banana.
