Bowens Island Restaurant - Charleston, South Carolina
Open since 1946, Bowens Island Restaurant is a bona fide Charleston institution, drawing people from near and far for its juicy, fresh, all-you-can-eat oysters in a divey-cool setting. The original structure barely resembled anything more than a shack with graffiti-covered walls and customers' names, but a fire forced the owners to rebuild in 2006. It's still got that fun, shabby vibe to it, and the fresh or fried seafood dishes don't disappoint.
