Barbecue Meatballs

These barbecue meatballs are packed with flavor and easy to serve, making them an ideal addition to any tailgating spread. They're tender, tangy, and sure to be a hit with your fellow fans. Serve them on toothpicks for easy, mess-free snacking!

Ingredients(for about 24 small meatballs):

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • Toothpicks for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 15-20 min. or until browned and cooked through.
  5. In a large saucepan, combine the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Heat over medium heat until simmering.
  6. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and stir to coat them evenly. Simmer for 5-7 min. to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Transfer the meatballs to a serving dish and insert toothpicks for easy snacking.

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Water

 Filling:

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

 Method

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, milk, and water in a pan, and mix until you form a dough.
  2. In a saucepan, heat a splash of olive oil and add the onion. Cook on medium-high until onion has softened.  
  3. Add the ground beef, and add the salt, water, and tomato sauce. When the meat has browned, remove from heat. 
  4. Dust a flat surface with flour, and roll out the dough into a flat sheet. 
  5. Use a ramekin or cup to cut out circles. 
  6. Add a dollop of beef-tomato mixture to the center of each circle. 
  7. Pinch the dough into a little pocket.
  8. Bake in the oven at 350° F for 15 minutes.
