Cleaning the grill is probably our least favorite task when it comes to grilling out. The trick is to burn away the dirtiness—in other words, take advantage of the grill's heat to clean the part you cook on.
For a gas or electric grill, crank it up to high heat and let it warm up until smoke starts rising. Then scrub it with a metal brush to remove leftover food residue. To clean a charcoal grill, set the cooking grate directly onto the embers while they're still hot. Then scrub it with a metal brush.
