5. The British are still skittish about them.

According to the Sustainable Restaurant Association in the UK, Brits are throwing out about 600,000 tons of food waste each year. In an effort to tackle the problem, the SRA began a campaign called "Too Good to Waste" and released a 100% recyclable and biodegradable "doggy box," so restaurants can encourage diners to take their leftovers home. Despite the efforts, however, the SRA also released a statistic stating that 25% of restaurant diners are "too embarrassed" to ask to take their food home. Some restaurants have worsened the issue by having diners sign "waivers," relieving them of responsibility for any food-related issues that could result from the leftover food.
