For a taste of authentic Creole cuisine that's nicely spiced but not too fiery, Li'l Dizzy's Cafe in NOLA is a must-try, an institution that's been around since 1947. This kind of soul food always hits the spot, and for a mild spice craving, you can't go wrong with the Creole gumbo, made with Gulf shrimp, crab, hot sausage, smoked sausage and smoked ham in a dark spicy broth served with rice.
