$2300 Burger From the Hague, Netherlands

As you can probably imagine, covering anything in 24-karat edible gold leaf will cause a considerable price bump. Last year, Chef Diego Buik from the restaurant South of Houston in The Hague, Netherlands, created a $2,314 burger to try and make it into the Guiness Book of World Records. He failed...and was left with his burger composed of Japanese dry-aged Wagyu beef, Hermit Dutch Coastal gin-infused Oosterschelde lobster, white truffles, foie gras, Iberian ham, Remeker cheese, French lettuce, caviar and Japanese fruit tomatoes. The sauce was made with 35 lobsters, Madagascan vanilla, saffron, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and Japanese soy sauce. And to top it all off: the 24-karat edible gold leaf brioche bun with saffron. The Chef noted to vice.com that he's had better, cheaper burgers in his life.
