The Fork - barely 1360

The fork is the newest eating utensil in the Western world. In the Byzantine Empire, it was used as early as 4th century BCE for eating, but most of Europe used the fork only for cooking. Even when Eastern Europe caught on and started using the fork in the 9th century, the Western Europeans stubbornly refused, seeing it as excessive and unmanly in some cases.
