Wash Your Vegetables

While many foodborne illnesses are the result of improperly cooked/handled meat, vegetables are not immune. In fact, because we often eat them raw, we're at a higher risk for illness because there's no "kill step," meaning they're not heated to a bacteria-killing temperature. Reduce your risk by thoroughly washing your vegetables—even when your bag of salad claims it was "triple-washed."
