Wassail - England

Wassail is part of a centuries-old tradition in Southern England, where residents of cider-producing areas would sing and drink to the health of trees on the Twelfth Night, hoping for them to thrive. So...it's both a beverage and a verb. The drink itself is simply hot mulled cider made with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, then topped with slices of toast for sopping up. Of course, today, the tradition of wassailing isn't very widespread, but hot mulled cider is still enjoyed around the world.
