Bazlama - Turkey

Turkey is a country for bread-lovers, with many varieties of flatbreads and other glorious carbs to choose from. Bazlama, which has grown in popularity in recent years, comes in a round, flat shape in varied sizes. It's a leavened bread made from the four basic components of wheat flour, salt, water and yeast and may also include Greek yogurt and sugar.

Commonly referred to as "village bread", bazlama is typically cooked in an outdoor rock oven. With a soft texture similar to that of Indian naan bread, it can be enjoyed on its own with butter or olive oil, served sandwich-style and stuffed with savory ingredients or as a simple bread side. In Turkey, you can find this delicious flatbread everywhere, at street vendors, markets, restaurants, etc.
