8 Things You NEED To Know About Your CLITORIS
Ready to get to know your adorable little lady mushroom much better?
Here are 8 fascinating, and sometimes very surprising facts about the clitoris...
1. It's actually very similar to the penis
Did you know that upon conception, all babies have the exact same genital tissue? The tissue only begins to develop into a penis or labia at about 12 weeks of age.
Much like a penis, the clitoris has a glans, foreskin (more commonly known as a hood), erectile tissue and a cute little shaft. It even swells when aroused, although it doesn't cause nearly as many problems for pubescent girls by swelling without warning as it does for boys...
2. it's only function is to give you pleasure
Don't let the Discovery Channel fool you, making love isn't only for procreation!
Indeed mother earth has given us the clitoris, which has zero practical use other than to give pleasure to women.
3. It's crazy sensitive
As if this wasn't enough, the clitoris contains a whopping 8,000 nerve endings, which is more than anywhere else in the body and double the amount that the penis has! Ha!
And that's not even all- the sensations that arise in the clitoris can spread through a woman's pelvic area by affecting 15,000 other nerve endings.
They do say that women are good at networking!
4. It holds the key to the orgasm
The word clitoris itself appears to be derived from the Greek word for "key".
The key to what? We can only assume pleasure, orgasms, and a peaceful life for those Greek men who knew how to keep their wives satisfied!
5. "location, location, location"
The location of the clitoris to your vagina does seem to have an impact on your sexual pleasure. Essentially, the closer it is, the easier it is to orgasm. When you consider that in heterosexual sex, much emphasis is placed on penetration, rather than clitoral stimulation, this isn't too surprising.
Not quite, but good try anyway.
6. It's bigger than you think
Your clitoris so much more than the cute, pink lady button you can see from outside. It includes the clitoral head, the hood the clitoral shaft, the urethral sponge, erectile tissue, glands, vestibular bulbs and the crura . Of all of this, only the clitoral head and the hood are found outside the body.
Inside, the clitoris is shaped roughly like a wishbone, with two "legs" that extend into the vagina, eventually connecting to the G-Spot.
Not the kind of wishbone you'll be sharing after dinner with the family, but hey, good to know!
7. It grows
Don't be alarmed, it's won't keep getting bigger and bigger forever like an old man's nose or ears! But the clitoris does grow throughout a woman's life. By the end of puberty, the clitoris will be almost twice as large as at birth, then increasing to about 4 times larger in the 30's, and finally reaching 7 times larger by menopause.
Surprising, right? Well don't forget that most of the clitoris is hidden inside the body, so changes in size are generally not noticed.
8. It's all about the position
This will come as news to nobody, but different sexual positions better stimulate the clitoris than others, therefore leading to more orgasms.
