Claro - Brooklyn, NY

If you're looking for a more upscale Mexican dining experience, check out NYC's lauded 1 Michelin-starred restaurant Claro, helmed by Chef T.J. Steele. Having lived and worked part-time in Oaxaca for many years, Steele brings an authentic taste of the region's rich cuisine to the streets of the Big Apple, with house-made masa, cheeses, chorizo and moles. Splurge on the prix-fixe 4-course dinner or taste your way through the bar menu, featuring organic, locally sourced ingredients in dishes like aguachile (raw seafood dish similar to ceviche), memela (toasted corn tortillas with seasonal toppings) and tlayuda (Mexican pizza, served folded-style). During the warmer seasons, try to snag a seat at the outdoor bar, where you'll have front-row seats at the open kitchen.
