Tamales

Tamales are one of the oldest Mexican dishes out there, originally brought into existence by the ancient Mayans. It's made of stewed meat and spices enveloped in homemade masa (corn-based dough) and wrapped in corn husks or plantain leaves. The tamales are then steamed until cooked through.
