A lot of fruits and vegetables can be eaten without removing the peel. That means you need to be certain that they’re properly cleaned before you eat them, and unfortunately tap water is not always totally effective.
To fully remove excess bacteria and dirt, your best solution is baking soda. Fill the sink with water and add 3 to 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Soak your produce for about a minute, without previously peeling or cutting it. Then empty the sink and rinse the food with tap water once before eating.
