Clean a cutting board

There are so many different types of cutting boards out there: plastic, bamboo, wood, glass…unfortunately, given that we use them so often, they’re usually teeming with bacteria and don’t always smell great.

So here’s how to properly clean a cutting board:

Firstly, never wash your cutting board in extremely hot water. Hot water will reinforce the smells of whatever you just cut up by literally ‘cooking’ it into the wood or plastic. So the best thing to do is rinse it with cold water and dish soap.

In order to disinfect a cutting board, simply dip your sponge in some vinegar and then wipe down the board. To get rid of lingering smells, wipe the board with a slice of fresh lemon and then wash with soap and water.
