Unopened cartons and cans of soup - no matter what the kind- will stay at peak quality for 3-5 years after their use by date, but only as  long as they have been stored in a dry, cool area away from direct sunlight. If the soup has developed a strange flavor, odor or appearance, or you can see mold growing on it, it's time to throw it away.
