Bread rolls exist in most cuisines around the world, served commonly with meals as a perfectly portioned individual side. Of course, they also go by many different names depending on the language, and they may be made with a variety of different base ingredients and seasonings diverse shapes and toppings (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds), with or without nuts, etc. The most universal rolls are round or oblong in shape with a dense crumb and a crunchy or chewy texture.
